The Nissan Leaf Nismo RC

I can’t believe I’m saying this about a Nissan Leaf, but then again I guess the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC is anything but an ordinary Nissan Leaf. It’s said to have some shared parts from its road-going version such as the lithium-ion battery, and power inverters, but that is probably where the parts sharing ends.

Two electric motors in each axle allows the Nismo RC to have variable all-weel drive, and powers it from 0 to 62mph in 3.4 seconds thanks to the 322bhp and 472lb ft of torque on tap.

Although the Nismo RC has to haul around lithium-ion battery cells, the car only ways 1,220kg thanks to the carbon fiber monocoque structure. The body is 300mm lower to the ground than a standard Leaf, and the aero looks aggressive of all hell. Functional too!

Nissan will  build six Nismo RCs to display and demonstrate at events around the world, and to race at Formula E.
