LM Spec McLaren F1 Fetches 19.8 Million At RM Sotheby’s Auction

At the end of last month, we discussed that the highly sought after 1994 McLaren F1 was headed to the RM Sotheby’s auction block. What made this F1 truly special was the fact that it was one of two F1s that was transformed to LM specification directly from McLaren.

What that meant was that chassis number 018 came standard with a large fix rear wing, extra aero compliments of the ‘High Downforce Package’, an unrestricted 6.1-liter V12 BMW engine that produced 680 bhp, and retained all the creature comforts from the factory.

At the time, the LM F1 was expected to sell for around $21 to 23 million USD, however following the trend of overall softer sells this year when compared to last year, the hammer fell at $19.8 million USD – still good for making the top 10 list of the most expensive cars ever sold at auction.
